The Wylie Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to gathering, preserving and sharing the heritage of Wylie, Texas.
Our monthly meetings, which are open to the public, offer a range of programming including presentations by guest speakers and artifact displays. We invite you to join us in person to learn more about the history of Wylie and the surrounding region.

2025 Ghost Tours!
Join the Wylie Historical Society, Smith Public Library and Wylie Recreation for a fun night touring with the spooky guides of early Wylie-ites!
They're back and the fun gets even better this year! 2025 Wylie Whispers Ghost Tour has more early Wylie-ites and more stories, including the spirits of Col Wylie; Mattie Brown; Marshall Howrey & George Washington Housewright; Saloon owner Betty Garrison; Wylie Telephone Operators: Minnie Walker & Lovilla Creel, and our newest addition: Fanny Ellis as they describe the spooky history of downtown Wylie!
When: Friday and Saturday, Oct 3rd & 4th 2025 starting at 7:00 PM. All tours depart every 30 minutes from the Brown House (301 N. Ballard Street). When you register, you will choose a time.
This is a fundraiser benefitting the Wylie Historical Society, Wylie Parks & Recreation and the Smith Public Library.
Admission $25 per person or $45 for two tickets (Suitable for ages 12 and up) Children age 16 and under must be accompanied by a parent. All donations are non-refundable. Spots are limited, book yours Now!

Welcome Center at the Brown House
Visit Wylie's 1st Recorded Texas Historic Landmark: Thomas & Mattie Brown House!
301 N. Ballard Ave
The Welcome Center at the Brown House will stay open past regular hours so people registered for the ghost tour can tour the house, shop in the gift shop, and view exhibit:
Tour the classic Queen Anne Style house, see exhibits and shop the boutique!
The exhibits are free and open to the public, Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00 am-6:00 pm
Local tourism information is also available at the Welcome Center
